Professor Lau Receives NSF Award

Professor Kenneth Lau

Professor Ken Lau was awarded $100,000 from the National Science foundation for his research titled "SGER: Initiated Chemical Vapor Deposition Synthesis and Design of Polymers for Alternative Energies." The funding period will start on September 1, 2008 and end on August 31, 2009. This exploratory project aims to create conjugated polymers using iCVD that would have viable properties as solar cell materials. iCVD is expected to enable the synthesis, design and deposition of polymers on solar cell structures directly from the vapor phase, removing the need for liquid phase processing and providing the tight integration of solution-intractable polymers in nanostructured phases and devices.
