Welcome to the Baxter Lab!

The sun provides a sustainable, clean, and abundant source of energy. Harvesting this solar energy and converting it to electrical or chemical energy is one of the most important scientific challenges of our generation. Solar photovoltaics provided 2.2% of global electricity demand in 2019 and new installations are growing at ~30% per year.  Continued growth of renewable energy is needed to combat climate change.

The Baxter group works to understand relationships between processing, material properties, photophysics, and device performance, as well as systems-level sustainability, to expedite development and deployment of photovoltaics. We enjoy many collaborations with other groups at Drexel, other universities, and industry. Funding for our work comes primarily from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, and National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
